Full Rewire — 3-Bed Victorian Terrace, Pontcanna

House Rewire

Scope

Complete rewire including new consumer unit, 12 circuits, filled chases throughout, and EV charger preparation.

Challenge

Original 1920s rubber-sheathed wiring with lead earth. Ornate coving and ceiling roses required careful cable routing to preserve period features.

Result

Completed in 6 working days. All chases filled and sanded. Full EICR certificate issued. System designed to support future EV charger and home office circuits.

Consumer Unit Upgrade — Semi-Detached, Whitchurch

Consumer Unit

Scope

Replace 1980s rewirable fuse board with 18-way dual RCD consumer unit. Full circuit testing and labelling.

Challenge

Original board had no RCD protection. Two circuits showed signs of insulation deterioration. Homeowner reported regular tripping when using kitchen appliances.

Result

New Hager consumer unit fitted in 4 hours. Faulty circuits identified and repaired. Full test results recorded with EICR certificate issued same day.

EV Charger Installation — Detached, Cyncoed

EV Charger

Scope

Myenergi Zappi 7kW charger installation with dedicated 32A circuit from consumer unit to driveway-mounted unit.

Challenge

Consumer unit was full — required additional ways. Cable route from internal board to external charger needed 15m SWA cable through cavity wall and underground duct.

Result

Charger installed and operational in one day. Consumer unit upgraded to accommodate new circuit. All trenching backfilled and patio slabs relaid. Full OZEV certification provided.

EICR & Remediation — 6-Bed HMO, Newport

EICR

Scope

Full EICR inspection of 6-bedroom HMO. Remediation of all C2 (potentially dangerous) and C3 (improvement recommended) findings.

Challenge

Property had not been inspected for 8 years. Multiple tenant modifications and non-compliant additions discovered including daisy-chained extension leads used as permanent wiring.

Result

Initial inspection completed in 3 hours. 4 x C2 and 7 x C3 findings identified. All remediation completed within 2 days. Satisfactory EICR certificate issued.

Full Rewire — 4-Bed Edwardian Villa, Penarth

House Rewire

Scope

Complete rewire of large Edwardian property including basement, 3 floors, and garden outbuilding. 18 circuits, smart lighting preparation, and whole-home data cabling.

Challenge

4-metre ceilings on ground floor required specialist access. Original gas pipe earthing needed replacement. Ornamental plasterwork on staircase required extreme care during cable routing.

Result

Completed in 9 working days. All chases filled and matched to existing plaster. Data points installed in every room. System supports future smart home integration.

Emergency Repair — Power Loss, Barry

Emergency

Scope

Emergency callout for complete power loss to ground floor. Diagnosis and repair of faulted circuit.

Challenge

Called at 8pm on a Saturday. Customer had young children and no heating or lighting on the ground floor. Required rapid diagnosis in limited light conditions.

Result

Arrived within 35 minutes. Diagnosed failed RCD caused by water ingress to an outdoor socket. Replaced RCD, sealed outdoor socket with IP66 enclosure. Power restored within 90 minutes of call.
